Brilliant stereo recording in your pocket.
The Zoom H1 is a light ultra portable stand-alone recording solution with good sound quality. If you want you even can connect an external microphone and record on the Zoom H1. We did this for example with a supercardioid shotgun microphone and it sounds great.
Like all Zoom H.. recorders, the H1’s onboard microphones are configured in an X/Y pattern, for stunning stereo imaging. Because both mics are arranged on the same axis, they are equidistant from the sound source for perfect localization and no phase shifting. The result is true stereo recording with natural depth and for its price very accurate imaging.
Possibilities: All in your hand!
With its newly designed user interface, the H1 is one of the easiest portable recorder to use. You do not need to scroll through any menus as you can access all its functions, such as track marker, auto record, low cut filter, level and volume controls with on-board buttons!
After using the Zoom H1 for one day, controlling felt real intuitive. This and the fact that you have a real versatile product with tons of feature make this a big recommendation if you are looking for a portable recorder without spending hundreds of dollar. As you can see in the specs above you get total recording format flexibility. From 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/96 kHz WAV, or MP3 from 48 kbps to 320 kbps and enough tools on-board to make recordings more easy. Often you do not need to change much with your PC afterwards.

The Zoom H1 is a very good portable sound recorder. With all its connections you can use it in a broad variety of situations; like a studio microphone via USB, attached to your DSLR, as a stand-alone recorder or with your favorite microphone on the go.
Therefore we can recommend the Zoom H1 for musical recordings, for songwriting sessions where you quickly want to recap your ideas. Another great way of using the H1 may be rehearsals to seminars and conferences, journalism or capturing audio for video-productions.
